Series: Kendra Ballantyne series #5
Favorite Quote: Kendra’s description of an important, lawyerly meeting, “We didn’t accomplish much, but it sure took up a lot of time. That left me scurrying to complete the actual worthwhile stuff I needed to achieve in the afternoon.” p. 32
Summary: When two of her beloved pet sitting charges are pet-napped, Kendra is horrified. She reaches out to her pet-sitters club, and learns she’s the third sitter to fall victim to the unknown villain. An outspoken co-member insists the club itself isn’t being targeted, and is later found bludgeoned to death inside a client’s house. Torn between finding the missing pets and clearing a friend of murder, Kendra struggles to answer these and other questions, like should she finally move in with her boyfriend Jeff?
Comments: I was somewhat startled when I got to the end of this entry. Johnston hasn’t gone in for the obvious cliffhanger ending before, so I will be interested in where she plans to go from here.
