Summary: Ellie Engleman is thrilled when one of her charges, Lulu, is to compete at the Mid-Atlantic Canine Challenge. Even better, Lulu’s owner Flora invites Ellie to join them behind the scenes for a front-row seat. Ellie’s enthusiasm quickly wanes, however, when Lulu’s handler keels over in the middle of the show ring and Flora asks Ellie to take his place. Of course, Ellie’s boyfriend Sam is the lucky homicide cop to draw this particular case, and he’d just as soon Ellie stay out of it. But she can’t resist poking around when Flora specifically asks her to find the killer.
Comments: These books are steadily improving. Sometimes it takes a while for authors to hit their stride. McCoy has definitely hit hers. Here’s hoping she can keep it up.
